It’s hard to believe it was only this Sunday we were toasty warm, sipping hot buttered rum (which some of you compared to Harry Potter’s Butterbeer it was so good) in the Grenpoint Loft. Now it’s freezing – guess winter was waiting for our Candyland creation to pass!
Let’s take a moment to relive the sugary sweet fun though, shall we? This year’s Greenpointers Holiday Market was a candy covered hit, many of our more than 60 vendors reporting it to be their busiest year yet, with 4,000+ visitors in all. This author gave over 100 tarot readings, Miss V. adorned tens of hands with stunning henna tattoos, Capture Me in 3D created many a digital avatar, [email protected] gave tons of massages, all for free, and that’s just what happened in the balcony!
Meanwhile, downstairs, the Big Cat Menagerie played old-timey tunes, Champion Coffee made sure everyone was properly caffeinated handing out their roast, Local gave out brie samples with their jams and jellies, and Morphologically kept the vibes right burning palo Santo sticks. The whole space was filled with local vendors selling everything from custom illustrations, knitwear, jewelry, handmade skincare, culinary and home gifts to clothing and beyond. Many vendors totally sold out of their wares, but don’t worry if you got to their tables too late – plenty of them have brick & mortar shops or online stores that are still stocked. Stay tuned for another post about where to find them next!
In all, the market was a great success, and we couldn’t have done it without you. See you in February 11th for our Valentine’s Market!

On Sunday, December 11th (1-7PM), sleigh bells and palm trees, snowflakes and sunshine come together in the Greenpointers universe because we’re celebrating this holiday season with beachy cheer, at our Holiday Tropical Market!
Discover beautifully crafted high quality gifts from some of the most talented local artisans and makers while enjoying a day full of FREE fun activities, food, mojitos, mulled wine, and seasonal craft beer in the gorgeous Greenpoint Loft.
With soaring wood beams and views of the East River and Manhattan, the Greenpoint Loft is now a private event space that opens to the public during our markets. Restored to its pre-war glory, it was once the home of America’s largest rope manufacturer and is worth a visit for a glimpse of Greenpoint history.
I don’t remember the point at which the simple days of working on a wishlist of gifts in the days leading up the the holidays were over. All I know is this time of year hasn’t exactly been a time to kick back and relax for a long time. As much as I love shopping for gifts and the festivities surrounding it, it’s time consuming and takes a lot of work. Add to it, work on putting together a massive market, and you are going to want to look for some short cuts. But since we’ve set a high bar on creative seasonal cocktails that are served at the markets, we didn’t want to dilute quality either. Continue reading →
