Sometimes art doesn’t imitate life and it’s too bad because the winter wonderland we brought this year’s Greenpointers Holiday Market was so beautiful! Miss V put down her Mehndi tools for a few hours, picked up a can of blue spray paint, and revived her street art skills to create a dope backdrop decked out with hanging snowflakes, sprites, and a wintery landscape. The weather outside felt more like a brisk spring day but inside the gorgeous Greenpoint Loft, it was bustling with the holiday spirit and the smell of spices from our mulled wine wafted throughout.
As soon as doors opened, visitors came in waves and the entire space became alive with the merry sounds of conversations and movement. Music switched between Laura & Greg’s live performance and some old-timey tunes by V.M Home Recreations’ record player. The rooftop space was packed with people drinks in hand, enjoying the cityscape views of the water tower on the Greenpoint side and Manhattan landscape on the other. Inside on the mezzanine, people were lined up for photos at our photo booth, getting their tarot cards read, getting artfully done nails, or receiving bang trims. It was the perfect way to celebrate this time of year and this neighborhood. Thanks to everyone who made it out and helped make this market a huge success! Check out some photos of this year’s Holiday Market here.
We had more than double the amount of visitors and as a result, many vendors sold out of all or some of their items. We’ve been asked where to find them so we’ve compiled a (not-so-short) list for future reference (or last minute gifts) below:
First, we had several local businesses join us to showcase some of their best (or tastiest) items so you should visit them when you’re around the neighborhood!
On food, we’ve got:
Adelina’s (159 Greenpoint Ave) for cozy authentic Italian and barrels of wine.
Centavo is currently a pop-up on Thursdays at The Brooklyn Safehouse (120 Franklin St)
Esme (999 Manhattan Ave) for delicious New American lunch, brunch, and dinner!
Moe’s Doughs Donut Shop (126 Nassau Ave) debuted some new flavors at our market and are open for business daily in their Greenpoint store.
On art/design and DIY handcrafted items, check out:
MochaShade (165 Greenpoint Ave)
HeART by Hand (172 Greenpoint Ave)
If you like Greenpoint style, pick up some cool shades and eyewear at Sunny Eye Shop (284 Driggs Ave) and/or get your hair done at Bull in the Heather.
