Being consistent with exercise has never come easy to me. Even though I like the exhilarating feeling of a good post-workout sweat, it’s getting up and actually going that is my challenge. My mind would make up all kinds of excuses to avoid going to the gym, everything from the bad weather to just not feeling like it, but mostly I would tell myself that I don’t have time.
The fact that for several years, I’ve managed to go to Human@Ease (31 Nassau Ave)Â at least once per week is a telltale sign of its appeal. I find Human@Ease to be a warm, welcoming environment that distinguishes itself from your run-of-the-mill commercial gyms, and their signature Introversion Training whips me into shape in 30 minutes.
Self-proclaimed as a”Zen Chill Zone,” I can say from personal experience that Human@Ease feels like a wellness sanctuary, rooted in the neighborhood but with elements reminiscent of exotic parts of the world. After a long week of work, I come here, push my muscles into exhaustion in the most meditative way.
From the funky upbeat style of owner Dishan, the playful “tough-love” style of trainer Geo, and the pièce de résistance, Machito the little lion dog, Human@Ease has built a unique environment that has served this community for 10 years. So when I recently discovered that they were in danger of closing shop, I was heartbroken.
But this isn’t the story of another beloved Greenpoint business adding to the string of closures that we have been experiencing in recent years. In true small-package-packs-a-big-punch fashion, it quickly regrouped, redesigned its programming and shop to bounce back in a Grand Rebrand happening this Saturday, August 17th (1oAM-8PM).
You will get to test out their supercharged class programming for FREE while enjoying a number of activities, entertainment, and food. For Greenpointers familiar with our markets, you will see some familiar faces near and dear to our hearts: Henna by Miss V, Nail Art by Peenk, Living the Dreamcatcher workshops, Tarot by our fairy godmother Elisa Jimenez. Human@Ease itself sponsors our free massages that many of you enjoyed on the mezzanine of Greenpoint Loft.
The newly renovated retail space is lovingly curated with many of our Greenpointers markets vendors so you can expect handcrafted one-of-a-kind high quality designs and goods.
We’ve heard many of our readers tell us about how they support and love local businesses. But liking or commenting is not enough. Vote with your buying power. Stop by on Saturday, eat vegan friendly small plates, drink delicious mocktails, and SHOP LOCAL.
