Sakura Market is a new dining experience featuring “supreme sushi grade seafood with deep Unami flavors using healthy principles” that is launching at Pony Boy (632 Manhattan Ave.) in March.

The dining series previously operated underground as #sushibellytower for the past six years at numerous locations around the globe, put on by Pony Boy co-owner and chef Michael Stember.

“Previously it was always through an email list that people had to sort of wriggle their way in obscure ways onto the list..and that grew into many many thousands of people and man many fun locations all over the world, and now it’s in Brooklyn,” said Stember, who along with co-owner and bartender James Halpern is working to bring a unique dining and beverage program to Greenpoint.

Stember, who is also a former Olympic runner, and Chef Aki Iwaki, who is the former head chef of New York Japanese restaurant, Bohemian, plan on building a membership program to Sakura Market where dinner participants can purchase ingredients used during the preparation of the meals to take home, such as smoked fish, housemade sauces and bone broth.

Dinner tickets for the eight-course meal must be purchased in advance (via email: RSVP@ponyboy.nyc) and are $150 per person, not including cocktails, sake or spirits. The upcoming dates are March 2nd, 9th and 16th, with seats for only 13 people a time.
