Kids…gear up for fall! A new, exciting afterschool activity is coming to Brooklyn. SING BKLYN children’s choir is inspiring young musicians, grades k-4, to blend their voices and talents to create something beautiful together. “Kids need more opportunities to perform. Kids need more music. Kids need to sing. Kids need a chance to build relationships that require them to work, support and encourage each other,” says founder Mary Duncan Stein.

Mary’s well-established SING LIC choirs in nearby Long Island City have been so well-received that she wanted to share this special experience with kids in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

Along with Greenpoint resident and professional singer, Elizabeth Kennedy, SING BKLYN will create choir magic in the Greenpoint and Williamsburg community. “It’s tremendously gratifying to ignite a spark of musical interest in kids, encouraging them to take chances and express themselves through music,” says Kennedy.

SING BKLYN will begin sixteen weeks of classes on September 14 at the Park Church Co-op. The semester also includes at least two choir performances. Parents are encouraged to follow the group on Facebook to find out more, and to enroll by September 7 at www.singbklyn.com.

Look for Beth and Mary at the McGolrick Park and McCarren Park Green Markets, where you may find them hosting free choir demonstration classes for neighborhood children.

Sponsored by SING BKLN, where kids learn more about music, what it means to be a good musician, how to be responsible to a group, how to express themselves, gain confidence that they can do something bigger than themselves.

Next semester begins September 14th at the Park Church Co-Op (129 Russell St) on McGolrick Park!
