It’s that time of year again when the Northside Festival brings an epic summer week of music and technology to the neighborhood. Our annual official showcase at Bar Matchless (RIP) is not happening since it has closed down but we are super excited that Supercrush has teamed up with our sister site, Brokelyn and put together a dope line up for an official showcase at The Knitting Factory (361 Metropolitan Ave)!
With Grim Streaker, Native Sun, Lola Pistola, and Yaasss there’s going to be a well rounded range of music from noise meets skate goth, loud and melodic indie rock, dream pop and alt-grunge, to kinky glam psych rock.
This week from February 2-3, party collective and record label Rinsed/The Umbrella are presenting their latest immersive show and music video experience, which examines the internet’s most tortured souls—social media influencers—at a secret North Brooklyn location. The satirical performance titled Under The Influencer uses a 360º hexagonal stage with surround sound pumping an original electronic score. The custom stage is set up so that the audience will constantly rotate to experience different vignettes around them. Three video screens will be playing music videos, and three stages will show live action interludes to tell the narrative. Each night there are two shows, one at 8pm and the other at 10pm.
Tickets are $15, and we are giving away a FREE pair of tickets to a show at whichever day and time you choose! To enter, visit our Facebook page via the form below and enter your email. Winners will be notified at the end of the day on Wednesday January 31st, and receive location info.
Sip on an Amelia Bordeaux Rosé, paired with fresh New England oysters or fresh out of the oven pizza from on-site food stalls. And with wine in one hand and a plate of mini donuts in another, enjoy plenty of live entertainment and get a taste of an international spectrum of flavors.
This year marks a major anniversary since Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland was published. To celebrate, the Brooklyn Books, Art, Photos and Design Expo (BrooklynBAPD) will return to Greenpoint on September 19-20 with many Alice in Wonderland objects among the more than 15,000 items shown by 145 dealers from all over the country. There will also be live readings of the Mad Tea Party and rare copies of antique publications will be shown.
Did you know that Alice in Wonderland was first published as “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground”? Let us know what year it was published for a chance to win free admission because we have 5 pairs of tickets to give away!

I’ve recently had the pleasure of discovering All Axis Music, a video series of live performances shot at venues all over the city. I spoke with the man behind the project, Chris Piazza. Besides a cool interview, we have coordinated a ticket giveaway for the next show he’ll be shooting! That’s right, you have a chance to win free tickets to see The Men, Obits, and Nude Beach at The Wick (260 Meserole St.) this Saturday.
