Holly’s HeART by Hand (172 Greenpoint Ave) is a new art & maker learning center and handmade shop. After several years of working the market circuit, owner and long-time Greenpoint resident Holly Fairall is putting down brick and mortar roots here.
The shop carries work from many local artists and fair-trade goods from global craftspeople including a beautiful collection of eco-friendly cards, jewelry, home goods, specialty foods, incense, and paper goods. In addition to all the products being ethically produced and eco-friendly, the prices are unbeatable, with an average cost of $25. If you ever need a unique gift, this is the place to go.
The back of the space is reserved for classes, workshops, and art parties. Holly’s HeART by Hand has a diverse schedule of classes for every age and artistic interest. Kids can take advantage of weekly classes like World Art, Kids Clay, and Art & Rock-N-Roll, or specialty workshops like Soap-making for Kids. Small group guitar lessons are also offered for kids, teens, and adults. Adult classes cover everything from knitting, crocheting, still life, soap-making, card-making and so much more. Starting in May the shop will be offering party packages for kids and private art parties for adults. Pottery for adults will also begin in May. During summer, the shop is planning to offer art camp for kids.
Additionally, Holly’s HeART by Hand will be featuring special exhibits by local artists. Currently, the work of Jacob Reinstein is being shown. Jacob is an emerging potter specializing in handbuilding sculptures that meld a street art style within the medium of clay. His work is mesmerizing in its detail and content.
Eco-friendly, ethical, locally-supportive, and affordable – these attributes encompass the mission of Holly’s HeART by Hand.
