Teaching Artists Seth Ginsberg, Terence Murren, Rozz Nash, and Villi Vilhjalmsson created CAMP in 2009 to provide an enriching and fun arts experience for young people in Williamsburg and the nearby neighborhood of Greenpoint. Campers ages 4-11 participate in dance, music, visual arts and theater classes and learn alongside working artists. Each session has its own script developed by Camp with a professional script writer and theater director. CAMP culminates in a unique, multi media performance presentation with costumes, sets, songs, dances, and video. Continue reading →
Holly’s HeART by Hand (172 Greenpoint Ave) is a new art & maker learning center and handmade shop. After several years of working the market circuit, owner and long-time Greenpoint resident Holly Fairall is putting down brick and mortar roots here.
The shop carries work from many local artists and fair-trade goods from global craftspeople including a beautiful collection of eco-friendly cards, jewelry, home goods, specialty foods, incense, and paper goods. The closest I ever got to art at summer camp was making friendship bracelets. Art camp didn’t exist when I was a kid – oh the things I would have made!
Give your child the opportunity to make and learn about REAL art this summer at Tumbleweeds Art Camp, taught by local teaching artist Hayley Youngs.
Located at the beautiful Awakening NY wellness center, Tumbleweeds Art Camp will run for 3 weeks this July 2014 for children 4-8 years old.
Each day campers work on structured art projects with one-on-one attentions, plus free art time to find their inner Picasso. Painting, sculpture, printmaking, fiber art and recycled art are just some examples of what your child will be getting into. Snack time, lunchtime and outdoor playtime will take place nearby at the McCarren Park Playground.
Don’t wait. Summer camps fill up quickly in North Brooklyn.
(SPONSORED) City Sculpting is looking forward to another spectacular summer beginning July 8th at our Manhattan and Greenpoint locations!
Art teachers Vanessa Solomon, Elaine Carl, Katherine Valentine and Gemma Gibb bring their diverse artistic experiences and talents to our students.
Our 2013 City Sculpting Summer program will explore countless ways of making, building and casting all sorts of sculptural creations. We use life casting to inspire projects around a theme of self portraits. We will make exotic clay creations inspired from Africa and Mexican masks. Children will learn to weave, bead and make endless crafty creations. Not to mention print making and water colors and basic life and fantasy drawing.
Children build on projects one day at a time, expanding their technical skills and creative realms.
Older children are are challenged with more advanced projects and techniques. Our age range is 5 to 12.
We are outward-bound everyday, weather permitting, for free play and outdoor picnics, and our Greenpoint location has a magical garden!
Many children come back for a second week and return with friends to our program every year!
DISCOUNT! 10% OFF IF YOU MENTION GREENPOINTERS!
