Since our first Love Bites in Greenpoint date proved such a smoking-hot success, we are thrilled to announce that we recently paired up a second gorgeous couple for a blind dinner date.
Last weekend Conor, 27 and Jo, 31 went for dinner at local fave Brooklyn Label (180 Franklin Street) and feasted upon treats such as calamari, risotto and pecan pie.
But whilst they went nuts over their dessert…did they go nuts about each other??!

Have you ever been on a blind date before?
I’ve dabbled with the online dating scene in the past, but never have I experienced a complete blind date.
Were you nervous before the date?
Definitely not; I think my roommates were more nervous than I was! The date itself is a win-win situation because you have the potential of meeting a new friend (or more than that), and if that doesn’t work out, you have a delicious dinner at no cost.
What were your first impressions?
Well-dressed and confident.
What did you talk about…did you have much in common?
Our conversation was all over the place which I don’t think is a bad thing. There was none of that dreaded awkward silence. Either way, we discussed traveling, our jobs, and somehow got to reminiscing about 90s Disney movies. There was a lot of laughing between us.
What did you have to eat/drink?
We shared calamari for an appetizer, and then I had grilled vegetables over quinoa as my main course. What really stood out for me was the pecan pie that we shared for dessert. SO good!
Did your date have good table manners?
She absolutely did.
Describe Jo in three words.
Respectful, conscious, and courteous.
Was there a spark between you?
I believe we definitely enjoyed each other’s company, but I didn’t sense a spark since we were still trying to get to know one another.
Did you go on anywhere afterwards?
No, but we took a nice and slow walk down Franklin Street after dinner and continued chatting until we parted ways.
Did you kiss?
No.
Would you meet again?
Sure! We did exchange numbers after all.
Highlight of evening?
The amount of laughter throughout the dinner.
Lo-light of evening?
We coincidentally had late lunches which led to us both still being slightly full for dinner.
Verdict / Marks out of 10 for the evening
8 out of 10.

Have you ever been on a blind date before?
Not really.
Were you nervous before the date?
Since I’ve never been on a blind date, I really didn’t know what to expect. I got little nervous when I walked into the restaurant.
What were your first impressions?
Brooklyn Label seems to be a place I can just walk in and feel comfortable right away, and I liked the fact it was low key and quiet on a Sunday evening. I was a little late, so just rushed in to get seated and introduce myself. I think we were both on the same page that we were there mostly for the experience, and that took some pressure off our being on a blind date.
What did you talk about…did you have much in common?
I think we touched on a lot of subjects, from work to neighborhood to movies. I don’t think we had a lot in common but because of that it was refreshing.
What did you have to eat/drink?
Calamari for the appetizer, and an impressive salmon risotto as my main dish, with salmon grilled to perfection. We drank pinot grigio. Our dessert of pecan pie was actually the highlight of the evening, it had just come warm out of the oven and had a lovely crispy crust.
Did your date have good table manners?
Probably better table manners than me.
Describe Conor in three words.
Mellow, friendly and open minded.
Was there a spark between you?
Hmm…I thought he was definitely a nice person, but it seemed like we were quite different human beings. Nonetheless, I think we can be good neighborhood friends. Also, I think it’s always hard to tell from the first date.
Did you go on anywhere afterwards?
Nope.
Did you kiss?
Nah.
Would you meet again?
Yeah sure, but probably during the day. He had more of a day time vibe.
Highlight of evening?
Pecan pie! And we also did talk about some old Disney movies.
Lo-light of evening?
I guess when there was a pause in the conversation: we both tried to find next subject very quickly, but maybe that moment was a bit of a downer?
Verdict / Marks out of 10 for the evening
8. It was a nice way to spend Sunday evening, and always good to meet new people!
Cute! Thanks to Conor and Jo for taking part.
And a mega thank you goes out to the wonderful gang at Brooklyn Label who made this week’s Love Bites such a rip-roaring success. As well as sumptuous dinners, Brooklyn Label also does a fantastic line in brunch, all put together by resident wonder chef Jose Luis Diaz. It’s also well worth noting that they have one of the best happy hours around with daily 2-4-1 drinks offers and food specials between 5-6pm.
