I’m sure you have all met the lovely Laena McCarthy while wandering through Sundays’ McGolrick Park Farmers Market and tasted the delicious jams she sells by the name of Anarchy in a Jar. Greenpointers’ very own Jam Queen is coming out with a book called Jam On: The Craft of Canning Fruit (in stores 8/6/12).

In the meantime, Laena was generous enough to give away a free copy to one of Greenpointers’ lucky readers! To enter: tell us your favorite jam in the comments below! (it’s that easy!)

One winner will be chosen randomly. Comments will be closed on Sunday August 5th at 11:59pm. Winner will be announced on Monday August 6th, 2012. Good luck!

  1. Ah, this is such a hard question for a jam lover! It’s a real toss up between apricot and fig, but if I have to pick I’ll go with apricot. P.S. I’m also a big fan of Anarchy in Jar’s strawberry balsamic jam!

  2. Strawberry Balsamic Jam

Or at least it’s my wife’s favorite. We tried it at the green market a couple weeks ago and I think she is become obsessed with it.

  3. Wow…there are just so many different Jams to choose from !!! I would have to say

Blueberry Cinnamon Jam is just decadent!!!

  4. I started to make my own jam about 4 years ago after taking a class with Anarchy in a Jar at the Brooklyn Kitchen. Since then, I try to make jam at least once a year, with last year’s peach lavender as my current favorite. Anyway, the book looks amazing, and I hope I win!

  5. Last fall I went to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival where a lovely woman was selling her homemade jams and jellies. Her strawberry-rhubarb was to die for! I was so smitten I bought 2 jars!

  6. I love strawberry rasberry jam!! with the strawberries being just a little chunky! its the perfect combo of sweet and tart!

  7. All the jams are wonderful, but Strawberry Rhubarb is definitely a favorite and my first choice when picking just one becomes too hard (how do you just pick one?!)

  8. Man, I feel so boring saying plain strawberry or raspberry… Some of the flavors that others gave here sound WONDERFUL. Blackberry Mission Fig? Strawberry balsamic? Well, maybe if I win this book, I’ll be able to make these other delicious sounding jams. 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway, Jen. Hope you have been well.
    Best,
    Gloria

    1. my favorite is strawberry. straight up with sugar and maybe lemon juice. simple is good gloria! but some of the recipes in here are things i am totally blown away by!

  9. I’m so happy the book is almost out! My favorite of Laena’s jams is probably the Hot Fireman’s Pear- that touch of chipotle really does something special!
