Its technically in Greenpoint, just across the BQE and before Richardson, and its technically awesome. Slow Fax is a new vintage clothing store on Graham, still in the 11222. With colorful signage and confetti glittering the sidewalk, this store is approachable from the outside and fall-in-loveable once you get in.
Karla, shop owner, is not only pinch her cheeks adorable and a sweetheart, but she knows how to buy vintage clothes that look contemporary and not like you raided granny’s closet. They also sell new designer goods, magazines, records and amazing artwork.
Its good vibes and good shopping.
Q & A with Karla from SLOWFAX:
K: I’m a night owl, I can’t be the only one, right? …plus sometimes you’re out, you hate your outfit, and I thought wouldn’t be great if there was a spot to change en route?Â
GP: Aside from Vintage, what else do you sell?
K: SLOWFAX features one clothing designer, jeweler, and artist rotating quarterly.Â
OH! AND WE HAVE RECORDS …
K: Luca Nino Antonucci is currently our featured artist. He’s an extremely romantic nerd with a rude (as in rad) sense of humor. For you’re viewing pleasure we’re showing “From Here to There,” repetitions on compact core galaxy M87 (screen prints). His work is exceptional, check it: http://itwillbeok.com
GP: Who is Brian? (aka life of the party)
GP: Who is you favorite designer?
K: I’m the kinda girl that only falls in love once but wants it all: CHANEL4EVA
GP: Â What are some helpful tips when shopping for vintage?
K: Never buy polyester, keep hydrated and you can’t go wrong with silk.
GP:Â What can we look forward to at SLOWFAX?
K: Pumps you can hop a fence in.
I really thought that “vibes management” was an honorific job title at the store, but I’m glad to see that he’s made a career of it
me too!
