Announcing the 2013 Vintage Crawl! (11/2)

This Saturday (11/2) will mark the 4th year that the Vintage Crawl has blessed us with a mapped route of shopping bliss, complete with sweets deals, cocktails, and seasonal sweaters galore. And this year, it’s expanded to the uncharted land of Bushwick.

Shoppers can navigate with a self-led interactive map on their smart phones (flip phone Philistines can rely on an old-timey paper map).  The crawl encompasses over 25 vintage stores and 10 bars across North Brooklyn, culminating in an after-party at Brooklyn Bowl, featuring Brooklyn-via-Detroit songstress, Alex Winston, synth pop greats, Joywave, and local fav, Deidre & The Dark.

After-party tickets are available here. Bring them to the crawl for even more discounts that will make your bargain-hunting thrift queen give your inner cheap-o a hearty pat on the back.

Here (drum roll) are the participating stores:

Greenpoint: Seven Wonders Vintage | Fox & Fawn | Ana Chronos | Kill Devil Hill | BKLYN Curated | Mahps Vintage | Adaptations

Williamsburg: Malin Landaeus | Horizons | Antoinette | RePop | Le Grand Strip | About Glamour | Awoke Vintage | Brooklyn Reclamation | Rabbits | Treehouse | Lavai Maria | Artists & Fleas [select booths] | C&C Pop up Truck

Bushwick: Collections | Worship | Fox and Fawn | Friends Vintage | Nouveau Vieux | Chess and the Sphinx

And..the bars: The Three Diamond Door | Dear Bushwick | High Horse Saloon | Commodore | Soft Spot | Duke’s Liquor Box | Skinny Dennis | The Gibson | Sage | Park Luncheonette

There will also be a Vintage Truck–the C&C Pop-Up mobile (from the A&E show, Storage Wars NY) will be stationed along McCarren Park in Williamsburg, selling various vintage knickknacks, clothing, and home goods.

Here is a little taste of some of the steals n’ deals going down:

Champagne and 20% off at Ana Chronos

$10-20 Rack and Endless Summer Taco Truck at Antoinette

2 for 1 sale rack at Fox and Fawn

Mimosas all day at Nouveau Vieux

25% off vintage at Treehouse

Look for us there. We’ll be the ones buying way too many Fall boots (while delicately sipping mimosas).

With colorful signage and confetti glittering the sidewalk, this store is approachable from the outside and fall-in-loveable once you get in.

Karla, Owner of SLOWFAX

Karla, shop owner, is not only pinch her cheeks adorable and a sweetheart, but she knows how to buy vintage clothes that look contemporary and not like you raided granny’s closet. They also sell new designer goods, magazines, records and amazing artwork.

Its good vibes and good shopping.

Q & A with Karla from SLOWFAX:

GP: Where are you from?
K: I was born in central Brazil but moved to SF when I was just itsy bitsy.
GP: How did you find yourself in NY?
K: The people are good and I grew impatient with west coast living.
GP: Why Greenpoint?
K: Greenpoint’s charms are reminiscent of the Northwest which is were I most recently moved from but with a faaaaar more diverse culture. Love it.
GP: You stay open until 12am?

K: I’m a night owl, I can’t be the only one, right? …plus sometimes you’re out, you hate your outfit, and I thought wouldn’t be great if there was a spot to change en route?

K: SLOWFAX features one clothing designer, jeweler, and artist rotating quarterly.

Currently in the shop we’re showing off Heaven, an upcycle line from KAILA NILES who works/resides in Berkeley, CA. We carry COCO GANG’S Rose and Bows bags made right over on the island and WINDY FREDA’S jewelry all the way from Marfa, TX. We sell Magazines! OH! AND WE HAVE RECORDS …

Luca Nino Antonucci
GP: Tell us about the artwork on the walls?

K: Luca Nino Antonucci is currently our featured artist. He’s an extremely romantic nerd with a rude (as in rad) sense of humor. For you’re viewing pleasure we’re showing “From Here to There,” repetitions on compact core galaxy M87 (screen prints). His work is exceptional, check it: http://itwillbeok.com
Brian of Vibes Management

GP: Who is Brian? (aka life of the party)

K: Brain Sweeny is one third of Vibes Management: http://vibesmanagement.com
They throw parties>>>good vibes.

GP: Who is you favorite designer?
K: I’m the kinda girl that only falls in love once but wants it all: CHANEL4EVA

GP:  What are some helpful tips when shopping for vintage?
K: Never buy polyester, keep hydrated and you can’t go wrong with silk.

GP: What can we look forward to at SLOWFAX?
K: Pumps you can hop a fence in.

GP: Did I hear something about a SLOWFAX opening partay?
That’s still getting figured out but it’s gonna be better than Burning Man. I’ll keep you guys posted.
