Summers in Greenpoint call for outdoor revelry and picnics so we’re bringing both to the upcoming Summer Market because did you know that Greenpoint Lofthas an amazing rooftop space with views of the Manhattan Skyline and the East River? Plus, illustrator Libby VanderPloeg is hand drawing a Garden Variety Watermelon Patch for a picnic themed photobooth manned by Gustavo Ponce! Your handsome mugs will come alive like living art as they did in the last market.
There will be FREE Activities, Craft Beer and Refreshments, Local Shopping, and Music:
Rooftop Yoga: Is there a better way to get your urban zen on? Visitors have enjoyed Greenpoint Loft’s outdoor section for its views but we thought we should take advantage of the weather by inviting Hosh Yoga to host a donation-based yoga class there.
The late great Robin Williams once said “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party!'” So we’re thinking this year’s brutal winter overstayed its welcome as nature’s cue for a massive celebration.
Celebrate Spring with us on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, 1-7PM at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St, 5th Fl).
We’ll have plenty of Strawberry Gin courtesy of Brooklyn Gin and craft beer by Greenpoint Beer & Ale on the ready for toasting throughout the day. Specially brewed for this market is “Rabbit Island,” a modern New Zealand inspired pilsner with tropical fruit notes and white grape. It will be served alongside “Fisticuffs,” a malty, creamy, easy day drinking English dark mild with hints of cocoa and bread crust. Continue reading →

A few weeks ago the L Magazine ran a featureof the top five places to get your nails done in Brooklyn. Sadly, it overlooked FreckleSalon’s very own Claire Beaudreault, one of Greenpoint’s most exciting emerging nail artists since Ria Lopez of Nail Art by Ria. Claire is the cool girl on the block who will make you tea, paint something amazing like tiny cats on your nails (or in my latest experience, pink ombre) and leave you feeling like you can point at world with very beautiful fingers and know exactly what you want from it. She fits right in at Freckle, which from Greenpointer’s prior coverage you’ll recall is the salon you’d hoped one day would open in our neighborhood. Continue reading →
Come on! I had to. For the nail art obsessed, here are some not too over the top Valentine’s Day inspired nails, a few from the talented women who were at our V-Day Market on Saturday: Nails by Fallon & Nails by Kelly.
I threw in two exception in there to make sure you are paying attention. What do we think about pointy claw nails? It is growing on me. And the 3-D flowers. I am obsessed.
On instagram please tag @greenpointers in all your amazing nail art adventures!!!

By this point, I was pretty picky with my nail selections, and by picky I mean outrageous. My thinking is if gel is going to last for two weeks then I am going to make it count. I think I was heavily influenced by a stack of belts I photographed at work color wise for this set. (Belts inspire me? I think I need to career make-over.) Continue reading →
