Orange hues & earthy rust tones, spicy & sweet flavors, warm cocktails & cold seasonal ales, cool Autumn days & toasty nights… ’tis the season to cozy up and get inspired by unlikely pairs. That’s why for our Fall Market on Sunday, October 25th, we’re excited to see the beautiful Greenpoint Loft come alive with a Foliage & Foragers themed day filled with FREE activities, refreshments, epic local shopping, live music, and most importantly the good people of Greenpoint!
Summers in Greenpoint call for outdoor revelry and picnics so we’re bringing both to the upcoming Summer Market because did you know that Greenpoint Lofthas an amazing rooftop space with views of the Manhattan Skyline and the East River? Plus, illustrator Libby VanderPloeg is hand drawing a Garden Variety Watermelon Patch for a picnic themed photobooth manned by Gustavo Ponce! Your handsome mugs will come alive like living art as they did in the last market.
There will be FREE Activities, Craft Beer and Refreshments, Local Shopping, and Music:
Rooftop Yoga: Is there a better way to get your urban zen on? Visitors have enjoyed Greenpoint Loft’s outdoor section for its views but we thought we should take advantage of the weather by inviting Hosh Yoga to host a donation-based yoga class there.
Ever wish that there was a place you could go to casually drink and draw with your friends (that wasn’t your small walk up)? Starting tomorrow, there is—a new summer Drink ‘n’ Draw series hosted by Greenpointers contributor and local illustrator Libby VanderPloeg at Dusty Rose Vintage Warehouse in Greenpoint. Find out how you can join in on the fun!
The late great Robin Williams once said “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party!'” So we’re thinking this year’s brutal winter overstayed its welcome as nature’s cue for a massive celebration.
Celebrate Spring with us on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, 1-7PM at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St, 5th Fl).
We’ll have plenty of Strawberry Gin courtesy of Brooklyn Gin and craft beer by Greenpoint Beer & Ale on the ready for toasting throughout the day. Specially brewed for this market is “Rabbit Island,” a modern New Zealand inspired pilsner with tropical fruit notes and white grape. It will be served alongside “Fisticuffs,” a malty, creamy, easy day drinking English dark mild with hints of cocoa and bread crust. Continue reading →
Our very own talented Libby VanderPloeg is having an art show titled “Hard To Get” that is opening TONIGHT December 11, 2014 at 7pm at Brouwerij Lane (78 Greenpoint Ave). This will be a great show with great people! See you tonight, Greenpoint!
It’s raining, and then it’s not. You don’t have shoes for this and your umbrella kind of half works, but you still want to hit the streets and see some art. We got you—just follow our Greenpoint Open Studios Walking Tour #1. Continue reading →
Brooklyn Cured is this week’s featured vendor at Greenpoint’s McGolrick Park Down-to-Earth Market, (open Sundays, 11 am- 4pm). This week, I caught up with BK Cured’s top dog, Scott Bridi, to learn more about his local roots and culinary experience in some of the city’s most notable food spots, and to hear his perspective on being a small-scale food producer. My advice is get over to McGolrick this Sunday to stock up on dogs for Fourth of July grilling! Brooklyn Cured’s products include sausages, hot dogs, bacon, smoked meats, classic charcuterie and more, using meat raised with no antibiotics from farms within the region. Continue reading →
I was super honored that Libby V asked me to take her portrait for a post about her on Design Sponge. Aside from being a super talented illustrator (she does our market posters) and a wonderful human, Libby has the most adorable and cozy apartment I have ever seen. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and also take her portrait as part of our new Fish Eye Series, in which we take you into the apartment of one of our talented contributors! Talk about an eye for design. You really can get to know a person by looking at what they put on their walls.
Read Design Sponge’s article about Libby V here. And check out her website for more of her design work.
