Looking for a way to donate this holiday season? For this year’s Grand Street Gives Back, nearly a dozen businesses on the East Williamsburg section of Grand Street are hosting collection boxes at their stores for folks to drop off food items (unexpired, un-dented, non-perishables). All of the food collected will be donated to St. John The Evangelist Church‘s Food Pantry (195 Maujer St). The St. John’s programs offer hot meals and grocery assistance to more than 150 families per week. The Greenpoint Lions Club is hosting a canned food drive to collect non-perishable food items that will be donated to neighborhood food pantries.
Food pantries at Saint Cecilia Church, Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Mount Carmel Church and Church of the Ascension, all located in Williamsburg and Greenpoint will receive all collected items.
Pups are asked to attend in costume and humans are asked to bring non-perishables for humans AND pets.
The top 3 Best Costumes will be chosen, and the judges are: Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, Laura O’Neill (Van Leeuwen/Selamat Pagi) and ME! (what an honor!)
Adopt NY will be there collecting all the pet related donations to distribute between the rescues that suffered severe damages.
