Kicking off our series of local shops pulling together some of their favorite music for us, we have a mostly-vintage, acoustic-twinged and quite moody playlist from local vinyl source Record Grouch (986 Manhattan Avenue).
This is the kind of playlist you want to gently put on for a chilly and drizzly Sunday morning, while you curl up on the couch with a blanked sipping hot tea and reading zines. And by the time the Donna Summer track hits in the last half, your inner fire will truly be lit.

Their story is an inspiration on many levels and they are yet another example of the interesting, kind people that call our wonderful neighborhood home. Continue reading →
Lo-fi singer-songwriter Tica Douglas casts a soft, soothing spell over this week’s playlist. The collection—like her own aural work—balances the sweet with the bitter. And, well, that’s life, isn’t it? Judge for yourself after the jump.
Folk superman Kyle Wall AKA Wharfer crafts some of the most elegant, haunting acoustic-orgasmic tunes. Today he shares some powerful numbers with his neighbors. Ready for some front porch jams that carry you from your front stoop reality? Giddy up.
