The landmarked Williamsburgh Savings Bank in South Williamsburg will soon have a much taller neighbor.

Renderings of 159 Broadway were revealed for the 26-story, 277-foot, mixed-use development featuring a hotel and 21 condos with an expected completion of summer 2021.

The development from Cornell Realty who purchased the site for $26.2 million, according to YIMBY:

A 251-key hotel will occupy the first sixteen floors of the structure, which includes a second-floor terrace and below-grade restaurant.

21 apartments will be created, averaging 860 square feet apiece, indicating condominiums. Floors average three to four units each, with terraces and balconies on floors 20 through 23. Tenants will have access to a below-grade fitness center and bicycle storage, as well as an exclusive recreational terrace with pool on the eighteenth floor. 12 parking spaces will be located in the first floor.

The architecture firm behind 159 Broadway, Stonehill Taylor, is also responsible for the hotel conversion of the First National Bank in Jersey City, as 6sqft points out.

  1. Who the hell approved this monstrosity?! I live at Broadway & Wythe and am annoyed, irritated, angry, disappointed and demoralized that yet ANOTHER apartment building is going up. 1) The construction has all but ruined my quality of life. From Keap St. to Kent Ave, all of Broadway has been under constant construction. The noise, the dust, the detours, the SIGHT of the construction is horrible. And 2) the result is this ugly-ass TOWER?! Come on!!! Williamsburg Bank is GORGEOUS and this apartment building will absolutely devastate the skyline. DISGUSTING. I’m sick of the construction. I’m sick of the ugly results of the construction. Seriously, who to contact about this? Who to plead with to make this stop??
