We’re excited to welcome our new Art Editor: Andy Smith.
Andy first moved from Seattle to Brooklyn in 2000 to study art and writing at Pratt Institute and has been living in the same Greenpoint loft for the last 10 years.
As the Founding Editor of Chief Magazine (2006-2009), an online arts and culture publication, Andy has profiled and interviewed hundreds of visual artists and musicians. He has also published work in publications including The Village Voice, Vice, Colors Magazine, Quartz and more.
You may have met him at The Yard, a coworking collective with a location above Spritzenhaus, where he worked the last four years as Director of Content and Marketing.
He is currently developing a book project about the North Brooklyn music scene, consulting Fortune 500 companies on employer branding, and, of course, writing about local artists for Greenpointers.
Andy’s local coffee shop is Cup on Norman Avenue and you can often find him enjoying tacos at Calexico or walking his dog, Luigi, down Franklin Avenue.
You can visit his website and follow him on Twitter.
Also, we’re looking for contributors! If you’re interested in writing about art in Greenpoint, or have some artistic tips and pitches to share, please email Andy at [email protected].
