Down-To-Earth-Markets_Kale_500It’s here: on Sunday, January 31st, there will be leafy greens! AND farm fresh eggs and meat, amazing cheese, artisanal olive oil, deeelicious pickles, the most wonderful hummus you’ll ever meet, and MORE.

AND did we mention: local apple brandy. What this winter needs is a hot toddy.

Down-To-Earth-Markets_Neversink-Apple-Brandy_500Let us toast to the debut of Neversink Spirits at the Mcgolrick Park market! Owned by Yoni Rabino and Noah Braunstein of Westchester County, they named their company after the Neversink River in the Catskills. The name is their “tribute to New York’s nature.” Now the tribute lives on as they distill incredible apple brandy made New York State fruit. It’s the perfect local eau de vie for a winter cocktail.

CLICK HERE to read all the good words about them in the New York Times from November 19th, 2015.

Down-To-Earth-Markets_Taiim-Shack-Mobile_500Taiim Shack Mobile will be in full form, too. A young food entrepreneur named Sean Carmody recently purchased this product line. Moving forward, he’s inspired to work with his farmer friends near New Paltz, NY. Together they are concocting new hummus varieties, and this weekend he will debut Fire Cider Hummus. Sean describes Fire Cider as a “thousands-year old recipe,” that incorporates ginger, horseradish, chives, root veggies, and more into an apple cider marinade. He then boils down the mix and blends it into the hummus for a wonderful new flavor.

In addition to these two newcomers, we’ll welcome our longtime friends at the market including:

  • D & J Farm
  • Demi Olive Oil
  • Garden of Eve Organic Farm
  • Horman’s Pickles – Special: Free pickle on a stick with each purchase!
  • Jersey Farm Produce
  • Orwasher’s Bakery
  • Stone & Thistle Farm – New products: Beef & Ale Pot Pie, Creole Meat Pie, Bone Broth, and more!
  • The Cheese Guy

The McGolrick Park Winter Farmers Market is hosted by Down to Earth Markets. It’s located inside the Park Church Co-Op located at 129 Russell Street, between Nassau and Driggs. Market hours are 10am-4pm. We’ll have textile recycling with Green Tree Textiles for the full time, and compost drop-off with BIG Reuse from 10 am-3 pm. Live music with Patrick and His Band, too, from 1-3pm. Greenpoint and beyond, see you Sunday!
