Mega congrats are in order for Luksus who received their first Michelin Star on Tuesday, after being open for only a year. Not only is it the first place in Greenpoint to ever receive this honor, but it’s the first beer-only restaurant in THE WORLD to be awarded a star. The Scandinavian-influenced restaurant, situated behind Tørst (615 Manhattan Avenue) offers only a tasting menu and focuses on beer pairings instead of wine and liquor.

“We are cooking seasonal food that celebrates the ingredients. To be recognized in this way by the Michelin Guide is simply outstanding and I am incredibly happy,” says chef and owner Daniel Burns.

Burns’ menu benefits from exclusive beer pairings curated by Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø of brewing company Evil Twin. “We wanted to show the world that fine dining can be done with beer and without having to consider wine. To have the Michelin Guide recognize us is the ultimate achievement,” says Jarnit-Bjergsø.

The word ‘luksus’ is Danish for luxury, and it will certainly be a luxury to be able to get a table there now that the restaurant boasts a gleaming Michelin Star. It joins three other North Brooklyn restaurants that were also awarded their first stars in this year’s honors list: Delaware and Hudson, Meadowsweet, and Peter Luger Steak House.

Luksus is open for dinner Tuesday-Sunday 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM.
The tasting menu is $95 with an optional beer pairing for $45.
