Crepeteria, Manhattan Avenue

If you’ve already been for a dip in McCarren Park Pool this year you’ll know that all that splashing around can leave you hungry! But the good news is that now Greenpoint has the perfect snack for a post-swim refuel: CRÊPES!!

Crepeteria opened two weeks ago, and is handily located mere minutes from the pool at 614 Manhattan Avenue, between Driggs and Nassau.

With a big service window opening straight onto the street, you’ll smell the delicious crêpey aromas wafting out as you walk by, but venture to the back of the cafe and you’ll discover a beautiful garden complete with sail-shaped sun shades and brightly-colored wooden tables: the perfect backdrop for an Instagrammed breakfast crepe!

Crepeteria's Beautiful Back Garden

The menu contains a whopping selection of 34 different sweet and savory crêpes, all priced between $5-$9. With fillings ranging from the simple (think Nutella, Lemon and Sugar, Dulce de Leche) to the exotic (such as Shrimp, Crabmeat, Lemon Juice and Parmesan, or Mango, Banana, Lemon, Brown Sugar and Caramel) everyone will find something they love.

There are also waffles on offer, as well as a host of freshly squeezed juices.

When we visited on Saturday we tried the Smoked Salmon, Brie and Spinach crêpe which was generously filled and teamed with a dollop of creamy dill sauce. A brown-ish lettuce garnish at the side seemed a little unnecessary, but the crêpe itself was good.

Packed with berries and sweet creamy cheese

As a sweet counterpart, we were recommended the crêpe with Vanilla Farmer’s Cheese, Strawberries and Blueberries. This one was a winner, with the sweet ricotta-like cheese serving as a lovely accompaniment to the berries. The blob of Nutella on the side was an added bonus.

In attempt to squeeze in a few of our 5-a-day, we also tried a Broccoli, Beet, Apple and Carrot Juice and another of Spinach, Pineapple, Banana and Carrot. At $6 for a large glass, these were so huge that we even ended up taking them to-go.

It’s worth noting that gluten-free crêpes are also available and, as another bonus, Crepeteria stays open until 11pm on weekends!
