It’s official, McCarren Park Pool is opening on Thursday June 28, 2012! For real! This weekend, a park employee named Guy (as in Gaetano) told me in the best Brooklyn accent you’ve ever heard, “make sure ya have a lock and a bathin’ suit, or ya ain’t gettin’ in.” Word.

I wish our parks department were adequately funded by tax dollars rather than have third-party non-profits step in to fill the gaps.
Not so sure OSA is non profit. They get money from those concerts they have. Also, I think they just figure out what to do with the tax dollars. Years ago when the neighborhood wanted to make the pool a pay or membership deal it was prohibited because it’s on city property. Why is it okay to charge now??
