More New Bars & Restaurants in Greenpoint: Luksus, Bread for the Eater, Lake Street

While we patiently wait for the openings of Park Luncheonette (Driggs & Lorimer), Little Dokebi (Driggs Ave & Monitor St) and a portuguese restaurant at the old Wasco on (McGuinness Blvd & Nassau Ave), here are a few others that will be opening in Greenpoint sooner rather than later:

As reported by Eater, on July 16th Luksus, a 26-seat tasting menu restaurant will open in the back of TORST (615 Manhattan Ave). “At first it will be open for dinner Tuesday through Thursday nights, serving a five-course tasting menu from Burns, with optional beer pairings curated by Jarnit-Bjergsø. The hours will expand later.”

On a recent late night walk we spotted some construction going on at Driggs Ave and Diamond St and ran into the owner of what will soon be Bread for the Eater, which had a nice brick oven from the former pizzeria that was in the location previously. Din, who also owns Cheeky Sandwiches on Orchard St in LES, described Bread For The Eater’s offerings of fresh baguettes and bread, croissants, roasted meats, small plates and they will have a beer and wine license.  This is definitely an exciting new spot on “the other side” of McGuinness Blvd.

According to Bedford & Bowery, a new Minneapolis inspired bar on Manhattan Ave near Norman Ave called Lake Street (706 Manhattan Ave) is opening soon by musicians, among them members of the bands Spoon & The Hold Steady. Bobby Drake of The Hold Steady, described it as “‘kind of old-man divey but cool bars, you know, where they could be sketchy, but not really,'” and “to that end, there will be Midwestern beers (natch), hot dogs, brats, and five TVs,” but it’s not a sports bar.

Can there ever be too many bars and dining establishments in Greenpoint?
