Local goods online shop Brooklyn Makers Shop is turning 1 this month! Since their launch on Valentine’s Day last year, Brooklyn Makers has grown to showcase the work of many Brooklyn-based artists and designers. I’ve drawn a good deal of the inspiration for my designs from the ocean and the creatures that live in it. There are so many amazing and beautiful things that live in the sea! They are incredible in their variety, the sheer numbers of them that there are, and particularly in their exquisite colorations. Possibly the only thing as breathtaking as the denizens of the deep is the cosmos. A lot of my work is very graphic and literal (printed images) but for my pieces which are not, I draw a lot of inspiration from the color patterns and combinations that these animals are all fitted with by nature.
