If you are guilty of escaping to the beach on this bright, hot day, you still have plenty of time to catch some great shows at the Northside Festival tonight. You can even keep the party going past 3 AM, because that’s when DJ and track producer Traxman takes the stage at Palisades. More recommendations below…
We have a spot on Bedford Ave and North 8th Street from 1-4PM for Williamsburg Walks and local artists Jay Miriam and Zev Rector will be making FREE Painted Postcards! You can request that they draw from their own imaginations or have a custom drawing made.
We will be there RAIN or SHINE so come through!
Williamsburg Walks is happening this weekend and will have a bunch of FREE SOD to give away again this year. It will be ready for pick up this Sunday, June 14 on Bedford Ave from North 5th- 7th and North 9th-North 11th.
Arrive around 5:30PM to start packing it up. There will be no thru traffic on Bedford so parking will only be available at one of the cross street intersections.
We’d hate to see good sod go to waste! Let’s make sure it gets reused!
Whether you are feeling contemplative, playful, or ready to rumble, there is a performance for you at Northside on Day Two. Our recommended shows, in chronological order, can be found below. Continue reading
Since we are fans of the bands playing at our Northside Festival showcase, tomorrow (6/12) at Bar Matchless, we decided to find out more about them. Below you can find the tracks they have on repeat this summer, favorite shows for Northpoint, and their sanctuaries in the 11222. Continue reading
Editor’s Note: While there are some great guides to the North Brooklyn festival out there, most favor the big name bands. Those are the bands that you’re most likely to already be familiar with, and also the shows that are most likely to sell out or have long lines to get in. That is why we are proud to present you with our comprehensive, day-by-day recommendation guide to the music festival, organized in chronological order, and streamlined with just enough information for you to discover the perfect shows for your very own musical tastes and moods.
How can we support such a statement? Start with an amazing set of bands (recommendations below). Add McCarren Park shows and some bookings in romantic backyard spaces, then include some distinctly easy-going and non-judgmental locals, i.e. you, fueling the scene.
Every summer, the activity in McCarren Park and the surrounding area gets a bit amplified, not just with music but with a variety of Northside Festival related revelry, including what they refer to as “NYC’s Biggest Tech Party.” Now in its fourth year, Northside Innovation returns with the Expo as well as the Conference this Thursday and Friday (6/11-12).
These are two full days packed with keynotes, fireside chats, panels, workshops, pitch competitions, and networking opportunities, so you’ll want to plan ahead and create your schedule beforehand. The Northside site has a comprehensive scheduling tool but we recommend that you download the more user friendly App instead.
The Expo takes up 50,000 square feet of McCarren Park and is free to attend but if you are anything like I was as an overworked commuter, the 12PM-7PM time frame might allow you to scurry through and pick up some schwag along the way at best. If this isn’t you, it might be fun to check out the 150+ exhibitors, who will be present to awe and inspire any passerby (aka will be doling out free shit). Continue reading
