Puffer jackets at the ready…this week’s gonna be a chill one with temperatures rumored to be dropping down to the 30’s by midweek. Brrrrrr. Fortunately our favorite neighborhood Italian Adelina’s has added some excellent new dishes recently and they are exactly the kind of thing we want to be eating on a cold winter night, washed down with a nice glass of red from one of the many wine casks that line the walls of the restaurant.
(sponsored)We can all agree that Greenpoint majorly delivers on the foodie front – with one exception – lunch. The biggest complaint I get (and I get ALOT of complaints) is that there aren’t a TON of lunch spots to chose from. We Greenpointers want choices! Well, guess who just rolled out not only a new lunch menu, but also dinner AND brunch service, that also includes wine? Charlotte Patisserie on Manhattan Ave. And don’t forget their incredible outdoor space and the infinite array of drool-worthy desserts! Continue reading →
In January, the space next door to Coco 66 reopened under Manhattan restaurateur Michael Callahan. The new restaurant, Coco (68 Greenpoint Ave), wowed us with a fresh and delicious dinner menu that included dishes such as Bourbon-Butter Grilled Oysters, a whopping great Double-Thick Pork Chop, and inventively prepared seasonal veg. The selection of late night bar food (served until 2am) also caught our eye with amazing Pickled Egg Sandwiches and $5 Cheeseburgers.
Now, nicely timed with the arrival of spring, they’ve started serving weekend brunch (10am-4pm), with a cracking menu devised by Head Chef Joe Capozzi (formerly of The Fat Radish) and consulting chef Julie Farias. Continue reading →
• A new cheese plate, which is a collaboration with Eastern District, features cheese made with vegetarian rennet.
• There are not one, not two but three types of arancini! Pesto, Salame Gentile and Porcini & Cremini.
• There are two new salads, two new pizzas and new pasta options. The pizza sauce is now made with the best San Marzano tomatoes.
• For dessert: a chocolate red wine cake from an old Roman recipe!
The new Brunch Menu includes many new options including two vegan options. The low starting prix fixe of $12 includes fresh squeezed OJ and a cup of Blue Bottle coffee.
The vast majority of Adelina’s menu is either vegan or vegetarian and many veggie options can be made vegan.
Adelina’s also has weekly events!
“Spaghett-it-on” Mondays, from 5-8pm features Roman style pasta marinara with a Genesee beer for $7!
Tuesday Record Night has been amazing. Each Tuesday a different Greenpointer spins on a single record player bringing their own style to the evening.
For over two years now Milk and Roses, (1110 Manhattan Ave) in Greenpoint has been the go to place for the perfect cappuccino and croissant. Now Milk has the pleasure to announce an entire new side, with the able hand of Chef Chance Jones. Jones has created an authentic southern Italian menu, featuring cheese and cured meat platters, insalate, braised meats and pasta.
Milk is especially excited about Agnello in Agro, a braised leg of lamb with cacao, egg, lemon and a warm carrot puree. Another chilly day favorite are the braised short ribs served over polenta, rucola and lemon. The pastas include Cacio e Pepe and Genovese, served daily, plus a featured different special pasta every night.
But do not worry – they still have your favorites for lunch and brunch!
Keep Milk and Roses in mind when booking your next special event, wedding or film shoot. The handsome interior also functions as a full-service event space!
