Donation based yoga is still the hottest workout out there. It has morphed into a social phenomenon in which tons of people come together to achieve fitness & well being. Student donations make yoga affordable for all to bring wellness to all.
[email protected] aims to create a donation based yoga program where people give what they can during class and a percentage of revenue is given to a local charity. TRUE GIVING makes donation based yoga even better, keeping wellness affordable, and giving to local charities to further spread the love.
“We take care of our bodies through fitness, why should we stop there? With this program students not only benefit but we get to help others in the process.” – Alexander Smith ([email protected] Trainer)
Students will vote at the end of each class for which organization to donate. This way each student will know where their donation is going and how it is helping out the community. What is better than being able to help others as we work to improve ourselves?
Here on Greenpointers we are dedicated to helping out animals and rescue organizations in need. On Easter, when I was at a guido Easter celebration with my Sicilian family in Long Island, I drove to Bobbi & The Strays to adopt this German Shepherd, Dutch. That day I learned a few things. If I eventually want my boyfriend to move in with me, then adopting a sweet but untrained horse is something WE should talk about, first. Communication is key.
And while we didn’t adopt my big boy, we did get to meet the amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to keep this no-kill shelter running. The place is great. You can feel the love. The animals are happy and well cared for.
Bobbi & the Strays is in desperate need of special pet food for their dogs and puppies who have mange. They specifically need Natural Balance Limited Ingredients, Dry & Wet food, and treats, DUCK & POTATO flavor. If anyone wants to donate food and drop it off to me in Greenpoint, I can personally (and by that I mean ask my boyfriend) to drive it out to Long Island. Or if you want to give me money, I will go and buy it on your behalf. Or you can make a donation directly to Bobbi & The Strays.
There is a local charity based right here in Greenpoint called Flying Kites that is building The Flying Kites Leadership Academy, a home and school for abandoned, abused and orphaned children in Kenya, which currently has 27 children in their care.
Another Greenpoint organization called the Temporary Tattoo Project has created some amazing temporary tattoos that you can buy, and all the proceeds are donated to Flying Kites.
Greenpointers & Yummy Eats invite you to a Cajun Feast to benefit the Greenpoint Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 8pm at the Greenpoint Church (136 Milton St).
Each week, the Greenpoint Reformed Church Hunger Program provides no-cost groceries and a weekly hot meal to hungry people in Northern Brooklyn. It takes $6,000 per week to feed all these people. Much of the money comes from government food programs, but $1,500 more per week is needed for additional food, plus utilities, building maintenance, volunteer coordination and overall administration.
Join us for a delicious dinner prepared by Joseph of Yummy Eats.
Proceeds from the dinner will be donated to the soup kitchen. It’s a great cause and will be a fun and very yummy night.

I want to thank everyone who has participated in our events and the local businesses who have sponsored Greenpointers. Thanks to the many contributors who create great content that makes the website awesome!
Since I took over Greenpointers.com, each penny I have generated through events, raffles, classes and advertising has gone to the new website fund!
Meet me halfway. If you love Greenpointers.com and value the service we provide to the local community, then please make a donation to the new website fund! Any amount greatly helps! $1, $5, $10 – $100 – we accept donations in any amount.
(I considered doing a Kickstarter fundraising campaign, but I’d rather focus on creating fun events and good content than making mugs and t-shirts. I hope the content and community service we provide is enough of a “perk” for you to donate.)
The fundraising drive ends with a Cinco De Mayo Party on May 5, 2012! Details to come… (two words: MAJOR DANCE-PARTY!!!)
Any donation over $10 will automatically be entered into our raffle! (You don’t have to be there to win.) Local businesses, please consider donating to the raffle!
I want to thank everyone for making Greenpoint awesome! It is really a pleasure and honor to work on this website.
