Our Gardens of the Galaxy Spring Market is Getting Ready to Blast Off! (Sun, 4/22)

Poster design by Julia Moak

Spring may not yet have fully sprung but we’re bringing fresh life, warmth, and out of this world local vendors to the Greenpoint Loft on 67 West Street for Greenpointers’ Gardens of the Galaxy Spring Market. We’ll be blasting off on Sunday, April 22 and staying in orbit from 1 to 7pm. Join your fellow space gardeners and RSVP on Facebook.

We’ve searched our local solar system to find 60+ star-studded vendors offering up their cosmically curated crafts and wares. There’ll also be some of the best free activities you can find under the sun, including henna tattoos by Miss V, tarot card readings by Hannah Frishberg, nail art by Peenk and 3D scans and digital avatar creation by Capture Me In 3D. Get grounded with complimentary rooftop yoga courtesy of Hosh Yoga, become the Martian you are inside with free face painting by Greenpoint YMCA and orbit the dance floor to DJ The Josh Craig. Oh, and don’t forget to look stellar for the camera in our space garden art installation and photo booth.

Even Keel: Wow-worthy Nature Inspired Soaps Made in Greenpoint

I recently had the chance to get burgers and beer with Greenpoint resident En Tsao, in the backyard of Williamsburg establishment The Meat Hook. En is the brains and the creative force behind Even Keel Soap.

A post shared by Even Keel (@evenkeeldays) on

Even Keel’s products, in the face of a market flooded with all kinds of natural, organic, and locally sourced ingredients remain unique and fresh.

Part of it has to do with design, a lot of has to do with the quality, and all of it has to do with En. She utilizes just about every aspect of her experience and past insights to make something very personable and true to her spirit. Continue reading

Isn’t It Dreamy?: Line and Label’s Spring Collection is Everything

It’s probably global warming, but the temperatures are rising. It seems like our fellow Greenpointers are loving the warm weather (me too!) because we’re all reaching for light leather jackets, ripped skinny jeans, and breezy pieces. It’s making me totally excited for spring. And, that’s where our local stand-by, Line and Label (568 Manhattan Ave.) comes in.

Line and Label’s Spring Look Book is just the icing on the cake for warmer temps: with gauzy pieces with a definite vintage flair, the collection has friendly and inviting silhouettes with a cheeky, flirty feel. Not to mention, some of these pieces double for their Ceremonial Collection – perfect if you’re tying the knot or just attending a bevy of weddings in the coming months.

Craft Beer, Haiku, Strawberry Gin, Face Painting, Electric Wildflowers, 60+ Vendors, & more!!! Spring Market (4/26)

Spring-Market_noaddress_235pxThe late great Robin Williams once said “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party!'”  So we’re thinking this year’s brutal winter overstayed its welcome as nature’s cue for a massive celebration.

Celebrate Spring with us on Sunday, April 26th, 2015, 1-7PM at the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St, 5th Fl).

We’ll have plenty of Strawberry Gin courtesy of Brooklyn Gin and craft beer by Greenpoint Beer & Ale on the ready for toasting throughout the day. Specially brewed for this market is “Rabbit Island,” a modern New Zealand inspired pilsner with tropical fruit notes and white grape.  It will be served alongside “Fisticuffs,” a malty, creamy, easy day drinking English dark mild with hints of cocoa and bread crust.  Continue reading

Featured Vendor: Birdy27

Have we mentioned that we love knits? We talked to Alicia of Birdy27 about her hand-made hats, scarves, and ear warmers for a little preview of what she’ll bringing to the Holiday market tomorrow!

GP: What inspired you to start Birdy27?

Alicia: I am just one big ball of creativity!  When I started thinking about starting a business, I began creating slogans for t-shirts and that jibed with my writing background. However, when I was a young girl, my mom taught me to sew, knit, and crochet. So when I decided to expand my business beyond tees, I went back to my background and family traditions. When I offer handmade items, I feel as if I am honoring my mom and grandmother. And my mom is proud of me, too. Continue reading
