The swell of crime in North Greenpointis still not the type of thing we’re discussing in yesterday’s terms, but things, on some level, appear to be happening. The fact that city officials scheduled a followup town hall meeting so soon after the last one is testament to the notion that they’re taking things seriously, even if residents are pretty firm on…

Thanks Steph, for the great coverage. I was glad to catch a little bit of the meeting considering the last minute announcement. If people had known earlier than just a few days, the place would’ve been packed like last time. Sadly, all that’s changed since September’s meeting has been the weather. 7+ people were lingering on the corner of Clay and Manhattan as I headed over. The paltry police presence and a lame duck Homeless Services staff still have A LOT more work to do. When our State Assemblyman, Joe Lentol, sauntered in 45 minutes late rocking a fat red ribbon and a gold medallion swinging like a pendulum across his chest, I knew it was time to go. Clearly, nothing good can from any of that nonsense.
I am on this site almost everyday and didn’t know about this meeting. I would have loved to gone if it would have been posted. Please be sure to keep on community politics, not just new restaurants. Local politics should be a priority…
My bad on that. We did post a notice on our Facebook and Twitter pages ahead of the meeting, but I understand not everyone cares for social media. It could be a good idea to follow us since we sometimes post stuff you won’t find on our site, but I’ll make sure the important stuff gets the blog treatment from now on.
That would rule!! Thank you!
This has seriously gotten out of hand. Was out walking my dog like I’ve normally done for the past 5 years and was accosted by a crazy homeless person chasing after me. The park at Franklin and Clay has become really sketchy. Where’s the police presence?
