State Assemblymember Claire Valdez just clinched a victory over Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso in the NY-7 congressional race.
The race between Valdez and Reynoso (hand-picked by the seat’s outgoing congresswoman, Nydia Velázquez) was largely seen as a referendum on new mayor Zohran Mamdani’s political influence and that of his political home base, the DSA.
