Earlier this month, entertainment venue and cultural hub National Sawdust solidified a partnership with The Metropolitan Opera which is set to come to life with a new live series, Opera Evolved, kicking off tomorrow, October 24 at 8 p.m.

Opera Evolved is designed to explore the evolution of opera as a genre with a focus on The Met’s upcoming contemporary operas. The series highlights the composers and artists behind newer productions to unveil how they’re shaping its future on The Met stage, including performances by Met luminaries.

The premiere program, Opera Evolved: Anthony Davis’s X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X & Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas, explores the two aforementioned operas debuting on the Met stage later this fall. The show will feature performances from X and Florencia stars Will Liverman and Ailyn Pérez (respectively), plus a discussion with composer Anthony Davis and Catán’s widow and legacy caregiver Andrea Puente hosted by NationalSawdust+ curator Elena Park.

Tickets are available for purchase here.
