Today, in honor of her birthday, we celebrate Christine Holowacz for her contributions to our neighborhood, and her leadership in the community. 

When Holowacz landed in Greenpoint after emigrating from Poland with her mother in 1972, she was thrown into high school and had to teach herself English.
