Today is officially International Axe Throwing Day and in celebration Greenpoint’s only axe bar (for now) is offering free sessions tonight.

Bury the Hatchet (25 Noble St.) is inviting the public to wield and throw an axe or two on the house from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.

Greenpoint’s axe throwing bar will soon have a rival in Hatchet and Hops, a Buffalo-based axe throwing bar that is planning to open at 98 N. 11th St. in the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Industrial Business Zone. The business signed a 10-year lease on the new venue and also operates a mobile axe throwing station called the Axemobile; the Williamsburg space is their first New York City location. Elsewhere in Brooklyn, Bad Axe Throwing is preparing their new space at  436 Albee Sq., and is the first commercial tenant at the new development known as “The Azure.”
