When: Aug 24th, 7pm-9pm
Where: 1164 Manhattan Ave

Explore Greenpoint and Hunters Point with Newtown Creek Alliance historian Mitch Waxman and in collaboration with NYC H2O.

The tour will start in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, a former colonial center and 19th century industrial powerhouse situated on the waterfront. Today it’s a thriving neighborhood, presenting a veritable study in contrasts as it actively deals with a legacy of past environmental catastrophe.

We will then cross Newtown Creek via the Pulaski Bridge and head into the brave new world as seen in Long Island City’s Hunters Point. The areas that we’ll explore are being, developed for luxury housing. Come take a look at what is there before it’s all gone. There are spectacular waterfront vistas to enjoy, maritime industrial and rail infrastructure to marvel at, and a few surprises too.
