Tonight The Lot Radio & San Damiano Mission (85 North 15th Street) continue their concert series with a screening of Hitchcock’s classically creepy The Birds, with The Dave Harrington Group lending their own live score. Harrington is Nicolas Jaar‘s compatriot and one half of their currently broken-up project Darkside—so you know the vibe is gonna be spooky AF, likely with raw and tangential dark jazz undertones. Tickets are a $10 donation, and the show starts at 8pm.
Basking in the otherworldly glow of the great master’s only film not to feature a conventional score of any kind, the DHG will use the sound of the film and their own instruments all blended together through live electronics and sampling to create a singular improvised experience of “The Birds.”
Featuring:
Dave Harrington – guitar + pedal steel + electronics
Jake Falby – violin + electronics
Andrew Fox – synth + electronics + film dub
Spencer Zahn – acoustic + electric bass
Samer Ghadry – drums + percussion
