Have you been thinking of cutting down on your meat intake but not sure where to start? Been trying to cut out dairy but feel too limited in your options? A great new local event could help set you on the right track.

Eat Green in Greenpoint is a vegan awareness day for Greenpoint hosted by Veg Corp (of the NY Vegetarian Food Festival) and will take place on Saturday 21st June between 9am-8pm.

The event aims to bring more business to local restaurants, and show New Yorkers of all dietary persuasions what great animal-free options are out there.

Participating eateries will offer one or more of the following:
– samples of vegan options available on the menu
– a discount on vegan menu items (for that day)
– coupons to come back and use on vegan menu items

Pick up a PASSPORT to begin your vegan adventure. Passport maps will be available from 3 Roots (159 Franklin St), or you can print one out from the Facebook event page.

Check off participating venues as you tour the neighborhood and, when you have three places checked off, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win gift certificates to local restaurants and other goodies. Hand in the maps at happy hour (5-7pm) at The Diamond, and enjoy drinks specials from Brooklyn Brewery.
