These then/now photos of Williamsburg are neat.

The killer of Menachem Stark, the man who went missing in South Williamsburg and whose body was later found in a dumpster on Long Island, was finally identified and is being held without bail on murder charges. Apparently he unexpectedly died during a struggle in the backseat of the getaway car, post-kidnapping.

In lighter news, Greenpoint got some love on the NY Times interactive coffee map, although they forgot a few favorite spots, ignored the Bronx completely, and didn’t feel like  going any deeper into Brooklyn. Continue reading

Our new mayor vowed to find the killer of local landlord, Menachem Stark.  Police are following a lead from a cell phone that they found strapped to the bottom of his car, possibly a tracking device.

Well, the snow did fall last weekend, schools closed, and our new mayor proved he knows how to wield a shovel…and show off his layers with sass. Welcome to 2014.

Don’t look up, it’s raining men lights at McCarren Park. (NY Daily News)

Speaking of McCarren, our humble park may be the future home of a giant bubble. Inside this bubble, there will be tennis  year ’round, for a price.

Some camels strolled down Graham Ave to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus. Totally normal.

ICE + FIRE = an epic blaze that lasted over 5 hours at a Brooklyn lumber yard.

Local real estate developer, Menachem Stark, was kidnapped from his office last week. His body was found on Friday, in Greak Neck, Long Island, and confirmed to be the missing man on Saturday; over a thousand mourners gathered for the funeral in Hassidic Williamsburg.  According to the NY Times, he owned several neighborhood buildings, including the Greenpoint Hotel and 239 Banker Street, which he converted from a factory to trendy lofts. Both had some serious building violations and the latter was vacated in 2009, leaving him with more than a few enemies, but investigations into the murder have yet to be resolved.
