Happy Halloween, Greenpointers! What better way to celebrate the holiday than by revisiting Sunday’s Samhain Fall Market with these sweet and spooky photos? We had a blast spotlighting local vendors new and old, reading tarot cards, and — of course — celebrating Samhain, which starts tonight and brings forth the “darker half” of the year when ghouls will roam and spirits will descend.
This season’s market was a hit thanks to the thousands of locals who turned out and our nearly 70 vendors — from clay artisans and dressmakers to soap sellers and jewelers — who delighted us with their craft and charm. And when we weren’t busy shopping, we were certainly imbibing Hot Mulled Cider with Uncle T Spices Pumpkin Spice Blend and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, a classic 12oz of Greenpoint Beer & Ale craft beer, or a cup of BABE Grigio wine.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn Paranormal Society spooked us with psychic readings, spirit drawings, and ghost hunting, and Pink Slater kept the jams going as they greeted incoming attendees. But if you really want to relive the festive fun, take a look at the paranormal pictures below! Enjoy your Halloween, nabes, and go trick or treat safely — then, after your engorge on king-sized candy, get ready for our next market: our winter spectacular, the biggest market of the year, on December 2 back at the Greenpoint Loft!
Our lips are chapped, our winter coats on, and our hearts and tummies are ready for some holiday treats and cheer – it must be time for the annual Greenpointers Holiday Market! This year, it’s going to be extra sweet: We’ll be transforming the Greenpoint Loft (67 West St) into a Winter Candyland of local vendors. Come join us and all our favorite indie Brooklyn businesses to reel in 2017 on a sugary high note on Sunday, December 10th (1-7pm).RSVP here!
It’s a great opportunity to shop for holiday presents, check out a ton of neighborhood vendors under one roof, and treat yourself while celebrating small businesses and digging the incredible view from the Loft’s roof deck. Continue reading →
Local makers. A great cause. Tarot readings. Sweet prizes. Dusty Rose’s new Our Damn Selves Market will have it all. On Sunday, November 19th, Dusty Rose Vintage is teaming up with Brooklyn Bazaar (150 Greenpoint Avenue) to host the first in a series of monthly makers’ markets specifically for fundraising. Each month, the event will support a different charity selected by the vendors.
This month’s market will benefit Planned Parenthood NYC, and 30 vendors will be on hand with ceramics, jewelry, vintage and contemporary clothing, paper goods, and art. Eva Jane Peck will offer tarot readings.
Planned Parenthood will be on-site with #Resistance advice, swag and more. Bethany Robertson will have illustrated postcards at a “Write Your Elected Official” station, so you can speak your mind in style. The $3 admission goes entirely to Planned Parenthood, and snags you a raffle ticket. Any extra raffle tickets you buy also benefit PPNYC.

Thanks so much for all the talented vendors who brought their unique handmade products to our Holiday Market this year. It was a great success and a gorgeous day full of lovely happy faces. Stay tuned for our Valentine’s Market on Sunday 2/8!!!
(sponsored)This Saturday, it’s that rarest of things: a really good reason to be in Manhattan on a weekend. Bedford + Bowery – New York magazine’s site covering North Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan – is bringing together the best of both worlds for an outdoor festival of food, shopping and music. Come for the free beer (while it lasts!) from Brooklyn Brewery; stay for the beats by members of LCD Soundsystem; and sip still more exotic brews from Greenpoint’s own Torst, whose newly Michelin-starred chef Daniel Burns will be serving up duck sandwiches. You’ll also get to try Vietnamese grub from Ridgewood’s Bunker, Malaysian street food from Williamsburg’s Pasar Malam, Japanese rice burgers(!) from East Village’s Yonekichi, Icelandic stews from the LES’s Skal, Korean-American fried bird from the Seoul Chicken, southern grub from Empire Biscuit and lots more.
Rad vendors like Etsy NY will be selling vintage clothing, home wares, jewelry, books, and zines. For Halloween, Bushwick’s Catland has all your occult items and Greenpoint’s “Wizard of Odd,” Billy Leroy, will be staging a one-day-only comeback of his famous Houston Street antiques and oddities tent. There’ll be used records – and brand new vinyl from Greenpoint label Captured Tracks. And speaking of music! Your DJs for the day will be none other than DFA Records artists Museum of Love (featuring Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem) and Nancy Whang (LCD, The Juan Maclean). It’s all FREE and happening this Saturday from 11am to 6pm at the Hester Street Fair, at Hester and Essex Streets on the LES. Find more info here and follow @bedbow for updates!
I know it’s a ways off, but we have been getting a lot of requests about our upcoming markets – so here is the deal:
Due to unavailability of the space, we will NOT be having a FALL Market this year.
Greenpointers Holiday Market is scheduled for 12/7/14 – so please mark you calendar and vendors apply here.
Expect applications to be accepted late October / early November. Due to increasing expenses tables prices have gone up, but we are bringing half table shares and 8ft tables back! Our table fees are still very affordable compared to other local markets and we want to continue to keep it that way. Thanks for your understanding!
