Where to Grab a Bite During the Northside Festival

Music, art and tech-lovers will be filling the streets of North Brooklyn this week for the annual Northside Festival. The festival itself has grown exponentially in the past eight years. It’s now separated into four elements: Innovation, Content (taking the place of Film), Art, and Music, all happening over the course of six days, from today (Monday, June 6th) until Sunday the 12th. Here are some coffee shops and restaurants to check out within a block or two of the big Greenpoint venues!

Lunch Counter Series: Where to Eat When You’re East of Manhattan Ave

However, as we’ve learned from our research on this Lunch Counter series (we gave you the update on the northern side of Greenpoint and the southern side of Greenpoint), restaurants in Greenpoint are providing all-day sustenance, with options for a quick lunch break or a more relaxed meal. Naked Dog is Now Serving Italian Brunch

Last summer, Greenpointers could be seen peering into the windows of Naked Dog, trying to guess when it would open. The restaurant been serving up delicious pastas to the neighborhood for several months now, but they’ve just started serving brunch, and it’s definitely crave-worthy and a little different from your usual brunch.

Owner Cecilia Di Paola is a wonderful, welcoming host and the kind of person you want to sit at the bar and chat with. Pop in to say hello to our new(ish) neighbor and dine in the beautifully-decorated, light-filled space this weekend.

The Lunch Counter: Where to Eat on the Southern Side of Greenpoint

In the second part of The Lunch Counter series (part one was North Greenpoint), we explore the “glitzier” south side of Greenpoint. Given the proximity to Williamsburg, it’s not surprising that the food scene follows some of the trends of our neighbors to the south. There are well-known chef-owners, brewers, local chains, vegan-only establishments and some traditional standbys.
