This is BKLYN DESIGNS first event in Greenpoint, a neighborhood popular with artists and craftspeople and home to the event’s primary sponsor, Broadway Stages. It will be the first design show kicking off NYCxDESIGN, the city’s weeklong design festival.
BKLYN DESIGNS features exhibitors from design and manufacturing vendors across Brooklyn. Show producers have tapped industry leaders to develop a robust program of events and installations that celebrate design collaboration.
Exhibitions include handcrafted furniture from Robert Sukrachand and Noble Goods; multifunctional furniture from Think Fabricate; contemporary fabrics from Bolé Road Textiles and Au Retour; children’s furniture from Casa Kids; outdoor furniture solutions from Raunjiba and From the Source; sustainable wood furnishings from Phil Gautreau; innovative light fixtures from Urban Chandy and Robert Debbane Studio; and vinyl record solutions from Wax Rax.
The conference program covers topics as varied as architecture and development, interiors and product design, technology and fashion, food and film. Demonstrating the collaborative spirit of design, the show features numerous pop-up lounges, site-specific installations, and a play area featuring the Imagination Playground, designed by Rockwell Group.
Attendees can enjoy food trucks, organized by FoodToEat, bars presented by Brooklyn Winery and Threes Brewing, and a Tattly Parlor where they can model temporary tattoos in front of a feature wall designed by Trove. The BKLYN BUYS marketplace will feature Brooklyn-made accessories and design objects.
Shuttles will run throughout the weekend between BKLYN DESIGNS, the WantedDesign NYC event at Industry City, and the Brooklyn Museum. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit bklyndesigns.com.
BKLYN DESIGNS is sponsored by Broadway Stages, host partner Brooklyn Expo Center, Aptsandlofts.com, Forest City Ratner, TerraCRG, FLANK and Heritage Equity Partners. Premier partners include Dwell and Metropolis.
