A new discount store in Williamsburg is aiming to meet customer demands with ever-changing inventory while connecting with neighbors.
Metro 99¢ Plus, located at 555 Metropolitan Avenue, opened at the end of April and has already made adjustments to sidewalk, store, and window displays to align with community needs. This includes accounting for the local demographic when replacing children’s toys with party decor and practical summer items.

This store was a lifesaver! I don’t live nearby but my friend and I were buying/moving a glass dining table around the corner. Realizing I forgot tape to help with the move, I walked over to Metropolitan hoping to find a bodega that might have some. When I saw this 99 cent store I literally said to myself “Yes!” — I remember there were two very nice men at the register, one of whom said to me that they had just opened, if I’d like to stop by again, and if I could spread the word. I said that I didn’t live in the area but that I would totally come back again if I did. I just loved how much he wanted to connect with his customers! Especially given the difficulties of opening during the pandemic, I definitely want to support. This place is great! Stop by!
