A presentation at Thursday’s Brooklyn Community Board 1 meeting covered the proposed development of a seven-story mixed-use building with 33 apartments and ground-floor retail at 171 Calyer St., which is within the Greenpoint Historic District.

A representative for the developer of the building, which is owned by Salomon…

Why do developers only want to build the ugliest shit in Greenpoint?
A characterless building. Not appropriate in the historic district or anywhere else.
Great ! More apartment units so that more morons can move into the neighborhood !!
I remember that corner when I lived on Oak St. On the Lorimer St side was Stanley Grocery Store a free standing building. I believe it was at least a two generation run business. The RKO with the American Theatre off Greenpoint Ave was a regular affordable weekend destination for us neighborhood kids
