Greenpoint’s newest supermarket at 145 West Street, on the corner of India Street, is inching closer to opening. The store will be from the brand, Jubilee, which has operated another location in Lower Manhattan since 1999. The Greenpoint location will be Jubilee’s “flagship store,” according to a Jubilee job listing online.
Signage outside the Jubilee market showcases the store’s many attributes, including the 23,000 square foot size. The signs say that the ground floor, next to Lightbridge Academy, will be a cafe and eatery with the supermarket located on the lower level.
The signage also shows the departments that the store will have, including a “full butcher section,” an “extensive seafood counter with steam bar,” “craft cold cuts and charcuterie,” “local and organic produce,” and “aisles and aisles of grocery.”
Illustrations on the signage also depict a coffeeshop, which corresponds with the brand’s new website promoting a 20 Grams Cafe that will serve sandwiches and coffee daily 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The website also lists a department called Sweet Pea Floral, where floral arrangements will be made to order.
Paper is still up on all of the store’s entrances and windows, however, Greenpointers noticed that lighting fixtures have been installed and interior structures are starting to take shape. No grocery items or tables and chairs have been set up yet, and the interior still looks pretty empty, but it’s clear progress is being made.
Jubilee’s signage outside 145 West Street reads “coming soon.” Greenpointers spoke to the concierge team at 21 India Street, the same large building where Jubilee will be located, and they heard the store was originally slated to open in August, however, that did not happen. Everything now points to a fall opening, including Jubilee’s Instagram page, which reads “new location opening this fall.”
