A driver of an SUV lost control and veered off of the road striking and killing a security guard who was inside a security booth near the intersection of Paige Avenue and Provost Street around 8 p.m. on Thursday night, NY Daily News first reported:
The 72-year-old victim was manning a security booth in front of a Paidge Ave. building near Newtown Creek in Greenpoint when the driver of a 2017 Ford Explorer making a left turn from Provost St. lost control and struck the booth around 10 p.m. Thursday, cops said.
The elderly victim, who suffered serious leg injuries, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he died, police said.
The 62-year-old driver stayed at the scene and was not immediately charged, cops said.
