Baker’s Dozen is Greenpoint institution for the classic New York bagel. Get a bacon, egg, and cheese, a lox and cream cheese, or a turkey, cheddar, and avocado. They also do wraps and omelets, but let’s be honest, if you’re coming here you’re grabbing a bagel.

Afghan Kabab and Grill House (1015 Manhattan Ave)

Afghan Kabab and Grill House Aromatic rice and tender meats are the calling card of this hole in the wall. The lamb, chicken, and beef kebabs are their specialty, and they also offer curries and appetizers such as samosas. If you’re not a meat eater, try the eggplant or okra over rice.

Norman Cafe (93 Norman Cafe)

Norman Cafe Fast vegan and vegetarian fare, classic and fresh. The owner of Norman Cafe has lived in Greenpoint for 22 years. At his last restaurant realized that plant-based foods were some of the most popular, which led to the creation of this all-veggie spot. Try the turmeric scrambled tofu burrito or the vegan maple tempeh BLT!

Polka Dot Cafe offers up simple and authentic home-cooked Polish food. As more and more super-modern eateries move into our neighborhood, Polka Dot (which was founded in 1996 as a butcher shop) remains a stalwart reminder of Greenpoint’s Polish heritage. You can find both traditional Polish dishes and more modern recipes here, though, as the owner keeps up with changing times and palates.

  1. Doesn’t do most seniors or poorer people without smart phones/apps any good.

    They should encourage the use of the app since it is a promo but open it up to everybody so the store can get exposure from everybody.
