The folks behind art book subscription service [reads] have launched a bi-monthly literary dinner series. The next dinner, hosted at Greenpoint’s own food/music/art/just plain cool space Magick City, will have author Jenny Zhang as a special guest, to celebrate her latest book Sour Heart. Zhang, who has been called “Lena Dunham’s new favorite author,” won the 2018 PEN America Literary Award/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction earlier this month. All of the book’s short stories are about Chinese-American young people navigating life as an immigrant and/or as a child of immigrant parents. Diane Chang of Po-Po’s will be whipping up a tasty three-course Sichuan-inspired vegetarian meal.
