Oh, to be a kid again: warm summer days romping through McGolrick Park, in between being immersed in my own imagination and bringing my ideas to life by experimenting with a wide variety of materials, long before my creativity was blocked by all the challenges of adulthood. Don’t miss this special opportunity to nurture your own child’s creative genius by sending them to Tumbleweeds Art Camp this summer.

Far from your average summer camp, Tumbleweeds Art Camp seeks to influence children to express themselves in positive and healthy ways while gaining skills that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.  Each week, campers will explore themes such as artists and their styles, early decades of art, art for fun, as well as theories and techniques.  Children will focus on one structured art project each day and will share and discuss each others’ artwork. There will be plenty of free time to paint and draw.   In addition, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts and recycled art are just a few examples of what Tumbleweeds Art campers will be delving into this summer. With easy access to McGolrick Park, there will be outdoor snack time and playtime in the morning as well as lunchtime in the afternoon.  Led by local teaching artist, Hayley Youngs, this is a unique and enriching experience where children will think creatively, set goals, and successfully see results.

Over four individual weeks this July, the camp will be hosted in Brooklyn Bash’s beautiful 1,300 sq ft private studio, just a block away from McGolrick Park Playground.  Children will gain an all around appreciation of the many possibilities of the art world, an understanding of its history, and the technical skills to create their own work.

Space is limited—camp is kept small to give each camper plenty of one-on-one attention so don’t wait to sign up!
