It’s not every day you hear about a band trying to play 24 shows in 24 hours, but the band Walking Shapes is attempting to do exactly that as you read this! Calling their blitz of gigs “Love Letter to New York,” Walking Shapes lined up a full day’s worth of performances in a wide array of contexts (outdoors, a grocery store, the subway, and more) all over the city. It began at 1:00 AM at Manhattan Inn. It’s not too late to join them in medias res, as they have several other North Brooklyn shows planned this morning. And here’s their latest single “Woah Tiger” from the recently released Taka Come On. The full schedule for the rest of the day is below (Greenpoint gigs in bold, North Brooklyn in bold italics). Check it out if you can!
Our buddies at Supercrush Studio, along with Dreamwave NYC, are presenting a show Friday night at Radio Bushwick (22 Wyckoff Ave) that features Andre Obin, Teeel, VOWS, and My Love MHz. Andre will be releasing his new album Ways of Escape. You can sample his brand of evocative electronic music via the song “Watermark.” The event starts at 8:00 PM and costs $7. RSVP here.
Another option for Friday is the latest showcase put on by Close Encounters. It’ll be at Legion Bar (790 Metropolitan Ave) and on the bill are Dive Bombers, Clam, and The Bloody French. It’s free if you go before 11:00 PM. I like this tune “Candywife” by Clam a lot, and if we can assume anything about the show from listening, it’s that it should rock hard.
