Featured Vendor: Sparc Jewelry

Featured vendor Sparc Jewelry was started by Susan Morales after 9/11 when she relocated to Venice Beach and was having trouble finding work. The creative call for jewelry making helped Susan cope with an impossible job market. She told us, “I was going insane actually. I needed another focus from job hunting.”

 

The name was also a play on her mental state. “SPARC is an arts building in Venice. I liked the way it looked in letters. It also stands for “Some People Are Really Crazy,” Susan said.

Now that Susan has a job managing a post production facility for TV and film, she continues to create jewelry as a hobby and hopes to one day open a store in Greenpoint.

Of her creations she said:

Every design is original and I use exceptional stones and try to always come up with new designs on a weekly basis. My product is 100% organic and precious or semi-precious. No plastic or synthetic stones, no base metals only precious metals and all designs are original. I make every single piece of jewelry while maintaining several store accounts and custom orders as well.

Popular piece are Sparc’s Jewelry’s Crystal Palace, the precious metal charms, the Petal Spears and Sharks tooth with Diamond.

Asked if she is inspired by Brooklyn Susan said, “Hell yeah, Brooklyn Rules! I see cool stuff everywhere!”

She especially enjoys Greenpoint, “I love anything on Franklin Street; Raised by Wolves, BK Label, Old Hollywood and I get my hair cut over at The Parlour. Greenpoint is so great and chilled and there is always a new and exciting mom and pop store opening up.”
