Alluvium House, located at 209 Franklin Street, on the corner of Freeman Street, is the new shop in Greenpoint that offers it’s collection of vintage and antique furnishings, decorative art objects and ancient antiquities, with attention given to small and unusual gifts.

Though the store’s inventory ranges in period from 2000 BC. to present, it doesn’t limit itself  to any specific period.  Shop owner, Walter Baker, insists that he never wanted to have ‘ just another stodgy antique store ‘. Rather, he wanted to curate and offer a collection of uniquely beautiful objects that one would feel compelled to have for a  very long time or that he would choose to decorate a specific interior.

On any given visit to Alluvium House, you’d find quite the diverse smattering. Some examples would be: An Eames Mid-Century Table, an  Italian Post-Mod Floor Lamp, a Deco Gold Leather Chaise Lounge, an Egyptian Gilded Bronze Serpentine Bracelet, a pair of Chinese Minority Textile Embroidered Shoes, a 13th century Thai Bronze Buddha, a 1st Century AD. Roman Glass Jug, a Japanese Edo period Lacquer Jewelry Box or a Maison Jansen Etagere etc.
